INTAPP History
International Appalachian is one of ASU’s newest University Funded Organizations. Founded only in 2005 by April Kappler, Katelin Kennedy and Nicole Hawkins, INTAPP has received much recognition for it’s achievements in the past few years. In 2006, INTAPP was presented with the award for CSIL’s Best New Organization. INTAPP has also been asked to present at 2006-2007 NASFA Association of International Educators Regional and National Conferences.
International Appalachian works hand in hand with both the incoming international students from all over the world and the domestic ASU students who are preparing to or studying abroad. INTAPP’s three main goals are to increase the number of Domestic Appalachian Students who go abroad, recruit more International students to choose ASU, and to promote interaction between Domestic ASU students and International ASU students which enhances internationalization of ASU.
Some ways in which INTAPP has achieved these goals:
- Worked hand in hand with the Office of International Education and Development during the International Student Orientation
- An annual International Ball
- Assisted domestic students through the study abroad application process
- Paired up international students and domestic students through the AppPeers program
- International Cafe
